Each cache is registered by codename only. Never record real place names in this registry. Location is documented separately in the Access Sheet (Module 03) using bearing and distance from a named reference point. Per TC 31-29/A: if this document were ever compromised, it reveals only that caches exist, not where they are.
HIGHLY SENSITIVE. Access Sheets carry the only records that reveal cache locations. Do not bulk-export Access Sheets to insecure storage. Printed Access Cards should be distributed to recovery-authorized personnel only (per Module 01 compartmentalization roster). Never email, share, or photograph these records.
TC 31-29/A inspection frequency: concealment caches every 1–3 months; burial caches every 6–12 months; submersion caches on recovery only. A cache with no logged inspection is flagged NEVER INSPECTED on the Cache Registry once its time in the ground exceeds the threshold below for its method. Caches with a logged inspection use their recorded Next Inspection Due date instead.
Suite defaults apply the aggressive end for concealment (60 days) and the lenient end for burial (365 days). Tighten to match your AO threat picture — shorter intervals cost more exposure trips but catch disturbance, water intrusion, and battery drain sooner.
This module carries three layers: group operational notes (your standing procedures, preserved below), per-cache container assignment (what container was used for each cache), and doctrinal reference library (the source-material facts your procedures are built on).
Free-text notes on your group's standing practices. Separate from per-cache records. Preserved from preliminary shell data.

The ideal caching container should meet all of the following:
- Completely watertight and airtight after sealing
- Noiseless when handled (handles should not rattle against body)
- Resistant to shock and abrasion
- Able to withstand crushing pressures from soil, water, or weight above
- Lightweight construction (stealth recovery ceiling: 30 lb per TC 31-29/A; sustained-carry: 50 lb per FM 31-21)
- Able to withstand rodents, insects, and bacteria
- Equipped with a sealing device that can be closed and reopened easily and repeatedly
- Capable of withstanding highly acid or alkaline soil or water

Field Expedient Containers
- Instrument containers (precision-shipping steel, rubber-gasketed) — near-ideal with stainless nut/bolt replacement
- Ammunition boxes (steel, rubber-gasketed) — standard sizes at depots
- Steel drums (full removable head with lock-ring closures) — satisfactory
- Glass jars (canning jars with spring clamps) — short-term only, under 1 year
- Paint cans (with waterproof adhesive) — under a few months only
- PVC pipe (civilian equivalent; endcap cement + test plug with wing nut + grease on threads) — submersion-test before use
- Aluminum foil — best inner wrap. Heavy-duty grade or scrim-backed heat-sealable foil.
- Moisture-resistant papers — inner wrap to prevent rubber/wax from sticking to items. Not adequate alone.
- Rubber repair gum — excellent outer wrap. 2mm thickness optimal. Self-sealing under pressure. Leave backing on.
- Grade C barrier material — microcrystalline-wax-impregnated cloth. Self-sealing. 3 layers protects up to 3 months.
- Wax coating — microcrystalline wax, paraffin. Hot-dipped or brushed. Moisture only; no insect/rodent protection.
Modern equivalent: MIL-DTL-117 barrier bag (MIL-STD-2073-1E) — commercial approximation is mylar/foil laminate bags marketed for long-term food storage.
- Inspection — confirm complete, serviceable, free of corrosive or contaminative substances
- Cleaning — remove all foreign matter including prior preservative. Handle with gloves throughout (sweat corrodes, prints identify)
- Drying — oven 110°F for 3 hours, or desiccant, or absorbent cloth. Remove every trace of moisture
- Coating with preservative — light oil on unpainted metal, or paint, or modern VCI (MIL-I-8574)
- Wrapping — each item separately. Tight fit, no air pockets, sealed folds
- Packing — remove container moisture, add desiccant (calculate per MIL-STD-2073-1E), eliminate air pockets with dry padding, never allow dissimilar metals to touch
- Instructions for use — written + diagrams, simple language, self-explanatory
- Sealing — lid watertight. Sealing joint is the most vulnerable point. Verify seal integrity
- Submersion test — fully submerge sealed container in water (hot preferred). Watch for escaping bubbles. Fix any leak

For long-term buried caches, Method 55 is the doctrinal baseline.
- Drainage — high ground preferred. Above all-year high-water mark. Avoid swamp muck.
- Ground cover — deciduous roots make digging hard, coniferous easier. Overlay of leaves/humus easier to restore than tall grass.
- Natural concealment — vegetation or terrain screens working party. Consider seasonal foliage changes.
- Type of soil — sandy loam ideal. Avoid clay (sticky wet, hard dry).
- Snowfall and freezing — frozen ground impedes digging. Snow on ground reveals tracks, cannot be restored.
- Rocks and subsurface obstructions — probe with rod before committing. Obstacle discovered mid-dig disrupts operational schedule.
- Natural caves and caverns, abandoned mines and quarries
- Walls (behind loose bricks or stones, hidden behind plastered surface)
- Abandoned buildings
- Infrequently used structures (stadiums, recreational facilities, railroad spur lines)
- Memorial edifices (mausoleums, crypts, monuments)

Criteria: equally accessible to emplacer and recovery personnel, remains accessible long-term, does not compromise involved persons if discovered, not frequented by hostile persons, physically secure against fire or damage.
- Spider web moorings — container attached to several cables radiating to anchors. Container buoyant, cables lift off bottom for grappling. Requires smooth firm bottom.
- Line-to-shore mooring — weighted container on bottom, line runs to immovable shore object. Shore section of line buried/concealed.
- Buoy mooring — anchored container, line to buoy fastened below waterline. Secure only while buoy remains in place.
- Structural mooring — anchored container, line to bridge pier or solid water structure. Line fastened well below low-water mark.
Maximum advisable depth: 2.2m. Stainless steel burial container buckles at 4.3m water pressure. Additional weight for zero buoyancy: 15-97 lb depending on container size (ST 31-205 3-2b).
Preemergency
Caches emplaced before the contingency, for projected future operations. Examples: retreat-era caches emplaced now for grid-down conditions. Selected and placed while normal freedom of movement is available.
Operational (Day-to-Day)
Active caches drawn down and replenished during ongoing operations. Represent routine supply dispersion across the operational area.
Reserve (Future Use)
Emergency reserve stockpiles. Not routinely accessed. Represent last-ditch supply for worst-case conditions. Often compartmentalized to leadership only.
Compartmentalization rule (FM 31-21 91c(3)): "Only the unit commander and key personnel know the location of caches." Implemented in Module 01 compartmentalization roster with Emplacement / Leadership-witting / Recovery-authorized role tags.
Sensitivity guidance: Registry Summary is safe for group-wide distribution (codenames only). Inspection Schedule is safe for compartmentalization roster members. Contents Manifest is per-cache sensitive. Access Cards are HIGHLY SENSITIVE — print only on demand, distribute by hand to recovery-authorized personnel, never retain digital copies on insecure storage.

CACHE POINT is the notebook that keeps track of what you buried, where, what is inside, what shape it is in, and who is allowed to know. This manual assumes you have never opened it before and explains everything from zero. Work through it in order the first time. After that, use the table of contents to jump to what you need.

What CACHE POINT is for
It does five jobs, one per module:
- Lists every cache you have, by codename, with its priority and status. (Module 01)

The codename / location split
This is the single most important idea in the program. Information about your caches comes in two flavors:
- Safe to share — the codename, the priority, whether it's a food cache or a medical cache. Knowing a cache called RAVEN exists tells an outsider nothing useful.
- Almost never shared — the actual location and how to dig it up. This lives only in the Access Sheet (Module 03) and prints only as a hand-delivered Access Card.
CACHE POINT enforces this split for you. The Registry Summary you can hand to the whole group. The Access Card you guard like cash. Each printout is stamped with a sensitivity level so nobody mixes them up.
What's on your screen
- A — Top bar. COMMAND SUITE returns you to the WATCHMAN home menu. The gear (⚙) opens Settings.
- B — Module list. The five numbered modules plus Print Outputs, this User Manual, and the Demo sandbox (RETURN TO LIVE when you are inside the demo). The counter at the bottom shows how many caches you've defined.
- C — Main work area. Whatever module you click on opens here. This is where you add caches, log contents, and so on.
Your first 15 minutes
Do these in order and you'll have a real, working cache record:
- Open Module 01 — Cache Registry and click + ADD CACHE. Give it a codename (any word — RAVEN, ANCHOR, a color, a tree). Pick a method (Burial, Concealment, or Submersion), a priority, and a status. Save.
- Still in Module 01, scroll to Compartmentalization and tag who is allowed to know about this cache. At minimum, tag one Recovery-authorized person. (Members come from your ROSTER module.)
- Open Module 02 — Contents Inventory, pick your cache from the dropdown, and add a few items. Don't aim for perfect — get the big things in.
- Open Module 03 — Access Sheets, pick your cache, and fill in how to find it. This is the sensitive one. Take your time and be precise.
- Open Print Outputs, look at the Registry Summary, and print it. That's your safe, share-with-the-group sheet.
Cache Registry
This is the master list. Every cache starts here. The codename is the only name that ever leaves this program safely, so pick something memorable but meaningless to outsiders.

Two flags worth knowing

Access Sheets

- IRP — an obvious landmark you go to first (a bridge, a lone tree, a trail junction).
- FRP — the precise feature right next to the cache. From the FRP you use a pinpointing technique (distance and bearing, pace count, etc.) to reach the exact spot.
Condition Log
A cache you never check is a cache you're guessing about. Each time you inspect one, log it here: the date, what you found, and when the next inspection is due. The Inspection Schedule output then sorts every cache by what's overdue.
How often to inspect

The desiccant calculator
Moisture is the slow killer of buried caches. Enter your container volume and the tool estimates how much desiccant you need to keep the inside dry. Pair it with a moisture indicator card so you can see at a glance, on inspection, whether the seal held.
Print Outputs & the Binder
The Outputs screen turns your records into paper. Each output carries a sensitivity stamp telling you how far it can travel:

Everything you enter saves automatically to this device, in this browser, under the key ao_cache_point_v1. Nothing is sent anywhere. That privacy is the point — but it also means this device is your only copy unless you make a backup.

Common questions
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. Everything stays in this browser on this device. That's also why you must export your own backups.
Can I share the Registry Summary with my whole group?
Yes — that's exactly what it's for. It contains codenames only, no locations.
Where do the member names come from?
The compartmentalization roster pulls from your ROSTER module. Add people there and they become selectable here.
What if I move or lose a cache?
Update its status in Module 01 (Recovered or Compromised). The change flows through every output so your records stay honest.
Why are Access Cards rendered one at a time?
By design. Bulk-rendering every location at once is the most dangerous thing the program could do, so it makes you select a single cache deliberately.
Demo sandbox
CACHE POINT ships with a demo sandbox — a separate copy pre-loaded with a worked example: three caches in different states (an active buried long-term cache, an active concealment medical cache, and a planned E&E cache), inventoried contents with rotation dates and ESDS/VCI flags, a complete Access Sheet with IRP/FRP route and pinpointing data, and a condition log with inspections on record.
Opening and leaving. In the live module, click DEMO in the sidebar under this manual. Inside the demo, that same slot reads RETURN TO LIVE and takes you back. An amber banner across the top of the demo tells you which copy you are in at all times.
Your real data is safe. The demo keeps everything in separate storage slots — including its own sample roster, so the compartmentalization dropdowns work without touching your real ROSTER. Nothing you do in the demo can reach your real caches.
Resetting. The ↻ RESET DEMO button (top bar and amber banner) wipes any changes and restores the sample scenario, sample roster included.
How to use it. Open the RAVEN cache and read its Access Sheet against Section 7 of this manual — that is what a complete sheet looks like. Check the condition log entries for the inspection rhythm. Then open Print Outputs and generate the binder — the OPSEC split between what prints and what stays memorized is easiest to understand from the finished product.

Common questions
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. Everything stays in this browser on this device. That's also why you must export your own backups.
Can I share the Registry Summary with my whole group?
Yes — that's exactly what it's for. It contains codenames only, no locations.
Where do the member names come from?
The compartmentalization roster pulls from your ROSTER module. Add people there and they become selectable here.
What if I move or lose a cache?
Update its status in Module 01 (Recovered or Compromised). The change flows through every output so your records stay honest.
Why are Access Cards rendered one at a time?
By design. Bulk-rendering every location at once is the most dangerous thing the program could do, so it makes you select a single cache deliberately.
Demo sandbox
CACHE POINT ships with a demo sandbox — a separate copy pre-loaded with a worked example: three caches in different states (an active buried long-term cache, an active concealment medical cache, and a planned E&E cache), inventoried contents with rotation dates and ESDS/VCI flags, a complete Access Sheet with IRP/FRP route and pinpointing data, and a condition log with inspections on record.
Opening and leaving. In the live module, click DEMO in the sidebar under this manual. Inside the demo, that same slot reads RETURN TO LIVE and takes you back. An amber banner across the top of the demo tells you which copy you are in at all times.
Your real data is safe. The demo keeps everything in separate storage slots — including its own sample roster, so the compartmentalization dropdowns work without touching your real ROSTER. Nothing you do in the demo can reach your real caches.
Resetting. The ↻ RESET DEMO button (top bar and amber banner) wipes any changes and restores the sample scenario, sample roster included.
How to use it. Open the RAVEN cache and read its Access Sheet against Section 7 of this manual — that is what a complete sheet looks like. Check the condition log entries for the inspection rhythm. Then open Print Outputs and generate the binder — the OPSEC split between what prints and what stays memorized is easiest to understand from the finished product.
